Sunday Shakes

In Be Merry, Drink, Eat on June 14, 2010 at 11:13 am

Every once in awhile you have a day that shakes up your little world. Over here at CHC, that day was Saturday when Miss L got in a dust up involving her car and a concrete median. On Sunday, our bandaged warrior and I headed out to celebrate still having all our limbs. It didn’t take long before we found ourselves standing outside of Ted’s Bulletin, a lovely new establishment on Barack’s Row.

Cap Hill O’Neill

In Be Merry, Drink on May 5, 2010 at 4:50 pm

We thought it would never happen. D.C.’s most-elusive, most-sought-after, most-lovely-fancy-lady (cough)Claire(cough) visited our neck of the woods Tuesday. My-oh-my…what a treat!

"I'd live here in a heartbeat," Claire said. "Cheers!"

A Friday-like Thursday

In Be Merry, Drink, Eat on April 23, 2010 at 10:47 am

Cap Hill enjoyed the company of a distinguished guest Thursday. Katherine (!!!) ventured to our side of the District for Mexican food and good cheer.

The loudest table on the patio.

La Loma has some of the best outdoor seating in D.C. The wait is never long, the service quick and the food good. Despite our best efforts to not fill up on chips and salsa…we failed. While recounting tales of yesteryear and Aladdin quotes, we somehow still managed to clean our plates and polish off two margarita pitchers. Cap Hill & Co. give this local establishment eight thumbs up and two Stanton park statues.

A shocking revelation.

April 1 kicked off the second outing of what will hopefully become a long and storied tradition. For what turned out to be a pleasantly simple evening, Mason, Andrew and I got together last night to talk the talk and drink the drink. Original plans consisted of playing board games and ordering pizza, but with a few last minute cancellations from current former friends, we decided to improvise and crawl out my kitchen window.

Seder-day Night Live

The Seder Plate, Minus the Egg

It’s a Monday night, you just got off work and you have an unexplainable craving for wine and matzah balls. Sound familiar? Well, join the club, buddy–but what is one to do?! If you’re Cap Hill and Co. you go ahead and have yourself a Seder celebration!

Selena, our Jewish Athena, came up with the wonderful idea of Cap Hill hosting 15 of the city’s best and brightest for a glorious Passover evening–and it couldn’t have gone better. For several, it was their first Seder, but that was no problem as the group in total rolled about 73 Seders deep.

Power On

I’m writing about this event before anyone else has a chance. Mostly becauseĀ I remember very little about it and I prefer to have some control over what’s said.
