Man-tini Thursday!

In Be Merry, Drink on April 2, 2010 at 12:02 pm

Okay, it was more like Man- ‘cheap-beer-cuz-Kyle-is-broke’ Thursday, but that doesn’t quite have the same ring.

A shocking revelation.

April 1 kicked off the second outing of what will hopefully become a long and storied tradition. For what turned out to be a pleasantly simple evening, Mason, Andrew and I got together last night to talk the talk and drink the drink. Original plans consisted of playing board games and ordering pizza, but with a few last minute cancellations from current former friends, we decided to improvise and crawl out my kitchen window.

For those who don’t know, rest assured that isn’t code for: “If we can’t play Settlers of Catan I might as well jump out this window and end this cruel and futile existence.” Rather, it’s code for: “Hey, look at this! The roof to your downstairs neighbors’ porch would make for a wonderful place to sit and drink beer.” So sit and drink beer we did.

Being a trio of Topical Terrys, we sat under a star-filled sky with the view of the Capitol dome a mere five blocks away, and discussed life plans, iPads and off-shore drilling. To give us some credit, there was more, but that sentence was already long enough.

The dream lasted 3 fabulous hours before we all went our separate ways. Mason, to Capitol Lounge never to be heard from again (until the next morning), Andrew, to his home where he lamented his previous critiques of the Hill, and me, to Union Pub where I breathed a sigh of relief when I was reunited with the lovely sitcom ladies.

Prediction: April 2010 is going to be the best month yet for any of us.
